Unplug any game controllers or non essential devices including usb hard drives. Things like uplay overlay, RTSS / afterburner / precision x / discordĪs a long shot try disabling your audio device completely in device manager and running the game, unlikely but eliminates one more thing. Latest AMD cards are decent too.Įnsure you have any kind of overlay disabled, can occasionally cause problems especially if multiple ones loaded at once. So is 2070 although unlikely to be cheap yet. ONLY change any settings in driver from default relating to power (use max performance or similar).ġ070 (from other comment) is reasonable but since it's last gen I'd recommend looking on eBay for a second hand 1080 or 1080ti. Use a driver cleaner (DDU) and reinstall latest drivers from scratch. Run task manager in background with both gpu and cpu columns enabled and check to see if anything is stealing cpu/gpu. Most of them are shit and defender is all you need anyway. Completely uninstall all other anti virus / malware software. Go to exploit protection in Windows and disable CFG for this game (or your entire system if you understand the consequences)ĭisable Windows Defender realtime protection or add an exclusion for this game folder. Hopefully this helps a bit.ĭoes it stutter more when you're moving about?Īre you on an SSD? If not this is a priority. Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions. ![]() I did not forget about ram and more would certainly help but it's not something that will be as drastic of a difference comparatively speaking to a new GPU. ![]() It's also super easy to carry a GPU over to a new build if/when you get a new system, whereas an investment in a processor now that fits your current motherboard socket might not fit in the new build, especially with all the heavy recommendations for going Ryzen now when building a decent budget gaming PC. Out of the multiple upgrades you can make to increase performance across the board your friend is right in that a GPU upgrade in your scenario would be the best choice for a first upgrade, it's where you'll see the most drastic performance increases in this title and other titles. While the RX480 is no longer the budget 1080p king that it once was it's still a pretty decent card for low-medium, and medium settings at that resolution. ![]() This should help you narrow down at least a little bit on which upgrade to focus on next to increase the performance of Breakpoint. Run the benchmark tool and see where the utilization is for both the CPU and GPU. You can also set the game into borderless window as this usually will lock the game to your desktop refresh rate. Second, is it actually locked at a constant 30 FPS regardless of what you're doing, the settings, where you're looking, etc? It's possible in that case it could be a v-sync or FPS lock issue, so check those applicable in-game settings. Alright so here's my advice and feedback, I hope it helps you out.įirst thing to remember is that Breakpoint, while well optimized is also an extremely demanding title to run at some of the higher fidelity settings, it has some super expensive options that will sometimes even bring my RTX2080 below 60FPS at 2560x1080 (1080p Ultrawide)
